I know this question might sound a bit dumb. My boyfriend is the primary driver of one of his parents cars, they insist he have full-coverage on the car but honestly the car is not worth the money. Would he be able to switch from full-coverage to liability only even though he is not considered the owner? Would an insurance company allow this? Its for the state of Maryland

The owner must make the changes since they do the purchasing.

if its not his policy he can’t do anything, his parents have to change that since its their policy, even though he’s the driver he’s not the owner so its not his decision on rather to have full coverage or liability
now if the car was in his name but he was still on their policy then his parents would still have to be the ones to change it since its their policy but he’d at least have the decision (that is if his parents let him), his parents would still have to make the change themselves
so all in all since its not in his name and not his policy he has no say so what so ever, and by the way if the car isn’t paid off (meaning still making payments) then the car HAS to have full coverage
if he wants to have his own policy he has to be at least 18 but it would cost a lot more, so he’d be better off staying under his parents policy until he moves out or until the insurance company says he’s not able to be under their policy anymore and has to get his own which is usually because of age
-”b” – i wasn’t just saying no, i was also explaining why and also giving advise, maybe you shouldn’t be so lazy and have a name longer than 1 letter

autoinsurance.undonet.com – try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

He needs to be the owner, sorry. Since the car is not worth much, tell him to buy it off them or get a similar cheap car, then he can get his own cheap insurance for it.
