You need it when you buy the car to take it home…once you pick out a car then do a quote either online or by calling, I recommend geico.com or 800-841-3000 get the quote and the insurance all within about 15 minutes and fax everything to the dealer, so you can wait until the deal goes thru for sure….but if you want to check out the rates first they will do that to as long as you know what kind of car u are buying…good luck

No, of course not. You buy the car, take the paperwork to your broker, get the insurance, go get your plates, go back and get the keys and drive. You can’t buy an insurance policy for “some car”, “2 or 4 doors”, “some kind of engine”, made by “some company”. In Manitoba you can buy a 7-day sticker from the dealer which gives you temporary registration and insurance, to allow you to drive it home and arrange for plates and full insurance on your own time.
