I just want to know how this works. I know it is the smarter thing to have car insurance, but is it a necessity in order to drive it

In most states it is illegal to drive without car insurance.

In order to drive your vehicle on public roads it is illegal to drive without insurance.If you are stoped by the police and you don`t have insurance you will be given a ticket.

In some states you can get around the insurance requirement, but if you get in an accident you’re screwed.
Lots of people drive illegal vehicles. You don’t have to go to a casino to gamble (but it sucks really bad if you lose).
