I am planning on buying a new car and my insurance company never raised my rates on my last vehicle after my DUI in feb 05.
Progressive was 150% Higher than what I am paying now.. I have full coverage on my truck with a 250 ded.

As far as insurance goes, a DUI counts for five years, not three. Are you with Progressive now, or just shopping with them?

If you haven’t had any claims in recent times, your current insurer really doesn’t have any reason to pull your MVR (motor vehicle record) to see that you have that. Were you with your current company in Feb. 05?

It sounds to me that you should probably just stay where you are for the time being. If you weren’t required to get an SR22 or anything, your company probably doesn’t know about it. (Not that this is the most honest way, however.) If you are starting to shop, every new company that pulls your records will see the DUI.

Consider yourself lucky that you didn’t have the higher rates for the past 3 years.

Also, I don’t know where you live, but in California, a DUI stays on your record for 10 years now.

150% increase is pretty standard after a DUI.
