It all depends on your age, drivers record, type of car. In other words a 16 year old with a speeding and a reckless driving history in a 07′ corvette will pay hundreds of times more than a 30 year old married person with 2 kids and no tickets in a mini-van.

either you are very young or maby you need to shop around for a new ins. co that really wants to keep their customers. your current ins co. saw you coming.

The cost of insurance is determined by age, driving record, credit score, living and garaging address, and type of vehicle just to name a few. You would be amazed at how much these vary among insurance companies. The best way to get a good deal on insurance is to go to an insurance broker, instead of a specific insurance company like Geico, Allstate, etc. An insurance broker can shop your policy to several different underwriters. Underwriters are companies who carry the policy.
This is the best way to get the cheapest rate, but you can shop separately on your own if you like. Just don’t let them check into your credit score unless you are pretty sure that you’re going to get a policy with them. The more someone runs your credit inquiry, the lower your score goes. If this is the first time you have had insurance on a car, you may want to wait 6 months before checking into anything. The rates usually drop after carrying insurance for 6 months continuously. Whatever you go with, NEVER let your insurance coverage lapse. It goes against your driving record, and the results are usually a suspended license.

Depends. Male/female? Age? Marital status? Driving history? Type of vehicle?

My husband and I were in the same situation after we bought our car. When we changed everything with our insurance company we were told our monthly payment would now be $300+ a month! I decided to shop around and found the same coverage for $154 a month with esurance. A lot of factors to play a part in how much you will pay but it never hurts to shop around.
