do the opposite…buy the car then before you leave the area call your insurance company give them all the info they need. if buying from a dealer they should be able to fax you the policy via the dealers fax machine. if from a private seller its better to drive to car straight home then have the insurance company to email you a copy of your insurance card, then have them send you the hard copy thru snail mail.

yes you can get car insurance before you purchase a car. Give your insurance company a ring and get a quote etc then when you decide? to actually buy the car a quick ring to tell them the registration and start of cover to commence immediately. they will send certificate by snail mail. you will be covered though but ask for a reference number and name. make a note of these and time of insurance starting, so should you be involved in an accident or be asked to provide details you can do so. remember you must produce insurance proof at a police station when asked to do so but a cover note by next day post should suffice.

Simply call the insurance company beforehand and notify them. They will take some basic information and “bind coverage”

Hey Meg,
I just did the same thing. There is a company that covers many states called Landa. I don’t know what car you are buying but they are the cheapest.
They emailed and faxed a policy to the car dealership within 15 minutes.
I hate buying insurance but thats who I would suggest.
BTW, I got a 2008 Mustang GT! (Bragging a little
