lets say i have a car with a salvage title and happen to hit a deer. I take the car for an estimate and the estimate is 4,000$ and the insurance company covers it. and to repair the car with aftermarket parts is only 1,000$ when fixing the car myself with the parts. could i collect the extra 3,000$ in the end?

First off…
If aftermarket parts are available insurance will use them. So your estimate will only be $1,000.00 from them in the first place.
IF… they for some reason give you factory parts and you find parts cheaper.. then yes you can keep the additional money (as long as you dont have a loan on the car)
NOW… heres the bad thing about salvage cars. Salvage cars are only worth 40% of what that car is worth with a regular title. So if your car is ever totalled… you will only get 40% of what a person with a clean title car has. So i hope you got it really cheap!

An insurance company will not insure a vehicle for physical damage with a salvage title. They do this so they don’t pay for a total loss twice. As far as the aftermarket parts, An insurance company will always use them where available.
