Insurance companies create opportunities for car insurance policy deductions by following the results of safety crash tests and trends in car safety statistics from accidents.  However the automobile industry is adding safety features faster than car insurance companies can test them.

Car safety features are a rising force that contributes to lower car insurance claims and accident injury and death rates, however insurance companies aren’t quick to offer deductions for safety features.  Don’t assume you’re going to arm your budget with car insurance deductions simply because you’ve armed your car with safety features galore.  Car manufacturers will rave about their new safety features, and safety organisations will promote their practicalities and plead for the safety features to become mandatory.  However, car insurance companies don’t take the manufacturer’s word that safety features work.  They want to see proven results over time.  Until time has passed and accident reports are collected and analyzed, the deductions for new safety feature aren’t likely to be included in a car insurance policy.

There are many new, unique safety features on the market in the latest hottest cars, however studies are showing that not all of these will promote a cheap insurance rate.  It’s not unusual for a new safety feature to be tested for three years or more before car insurance companies implement safety deductions into their policy features.  New safety features will not result in a lower insurance premium until it is demonstrated through history that the new safety features contribute to lower accident rates.  Asking your insurance company specifically which safety features will reduce your premium can go a long way in your car buying decision and your car insurance premium costs.

A classic car insurance Northern Ireland policy would cover many additional areas that are not normally available in a general car insurance policy.  While a general car insurance policy would provide for the essential basics, this special policy provides for such dynamic features that include a buy back or a guaranteed salvage value for your damaged car. Not many insurance covers provide for such star features.

Apart from this, the policy holder gets a hefty introductory discount which in some cases exceeds 50% of premium costs.  There is also a limited mileage discount provided by some insurance companies offering the classic car insurance Northern Ireland policies. A limited mileage discount is a scheme where cars running low miles during the year and having minimal usage are eligible to obtain discounts while providing insurance coverage. In the event the car moves out of Northern Ireland to some other European destinations for a short duration, insurance cover remains valid for varying periods extending up to 90 days in specific cases. Major insurance companies have car owners clubs or car clubs and discounts are available to car club members too. This facility is provided to a classic car insurance Northern Ireland policy holder.

The idea of a classic car insurance for vintage and old cars originated about 25 years ago when car owners found that policies in those days were inadequate to cover their requirements. Vintage car owners were handed out normal car insurance policies with little regard to their vehicle types and usages. Not many vintage car owners today pull out their cars from their garage to go out to the office or drop off kids to the school.  No one ever sees these old time beauties racing along a highway except for vintage car rallies which today are few and far between.  In Northern Ireland, these passionate vehicle owners desired a better deal for their cars, and insurance companies at last decided to listen to their demands. With a view to build in long term customer relationships, some of the major insurance providers in Northern Ireland decided to offer these policies popularly known as classic car insurance Northern Ireland policies. The quotes are always reasonably cheap and provide for add on privileges that include club memberships, discounts, free courtesy car while the owner’s car remain in the workshop and guarantee salvage values  if the owner decides to forgo his car.

When determining insurance premiums, a truck insurance provider takes many factors into consideration. One of the most important factors is safety features. Having working safety features will greatly reduce insurance rates. Additionally, many safety features are required by law.

Lighting and Reflectors

All lights are required to be visible and not covered. This means that they cannot be hidden by the cargo or parts of the trailer or be covered with dirt. All tail-lights must be red. Amber tail-lights are not allowed. Additionally:

-Two turn signals are required on the rear of the truck to alert passing vehicles of lane changes and turns.

-Trailers must have rear side marker lights 60 inches from the ground.

-Trailers must have two reflex reflectors at the rear indicating the width of the trailer.

Retroreflective sheeting is also a requirement for trailers. The total length of the sheeting on the sides should be half the length of the trailer. It should also extend across the rear of the trailer.

Front fog lamps are an excellent safety feature. If they are used, it must be in conjunction with headlights, rather than as an alternative to headlights.

Electronics

The storage compartment for the battery must be sealed and all corrosive leads must be painted with acid resistant paint. Naturally, all wiring must be properly insulated with proper grounding.

Brakes

All trucks must be equipped with a breaking system adequate for the weight of the combined truck and trailer in operation. Parking breaks must also be used. The brakes must be active on all wheels. The brakes must always be in good condition. This means that any damage or wearing of brake pads, brake chambers, and slack adjusters should be remedied as soon as possible. Anti-lock brakes are also required on all trucks.

Tires

All tires must be in working condition, meaning that the belt is not exposed through the tread. Tires used must be capable of supporting the weight and distribution of a load.

Truck Insurance Companies

Some commercial truck insurance companies such as The Truck Insurance Group and the Direct Truck Insurance Company will actually go out to inspect the trucks for safety before they consider insuring the vehicle. If the trucks do not pass their safety test, they may not issue an insurance policy.
