If you are rent a car from car rental agency, most of the car insurance agency will ask you to buy a car insurance plan for their rental car within your renting period. So that if any accident happened, you will not require to bear any liability cost for the repair cost of your rental car. The common question is do you need to pay for this rental car insurance?

In fact, this is more like an agreement between you and your car rental agency that if accident happened, you will not need to hold any responsibility of your rental car repair cost. There are a customer complaint that she reject to buy the car insurance for the rental car she used, and the accident had happened. The rental car agency told her that they will send the repair bills to her later on since they do not know the repair cost yet.

However, later when she received the cost that charged on her credit card, she was shocked. The Car rental agency claim that the rental car was lying in the garage for 2 weeks of repair, and they charge the 14 days of the rental price on her due to loss of business profit..

It is more depend on the agreement that you signed before taking your rental car from the car rental agency. Most of the people will not bother to read the whole stack of little word agreement, and will only come back to dispute afterward when there are an issue.

If you want to do it in the correct path, you shall check with your existing car insurance plan whether it has provide coverage to the rental car or not; and what is the condition to claim and the coverage variety and coverage limit included that stated in your car insurance policy.

You may also check with your credit card provider. Some credit card company will provide free car insurance coverage for the rental car. Make sure it is primary coverage and not secondary coverage. If you are happy with the coverage limit and coverage variety, then just reject the offer from your car rental agency.
