Is there anyone who thinks that car insurance is a ripoff?

We pay so much in car insurance and have yet to have a wreck or anything. Not to mention the ridiculous amount for car tags. (Thank God)I say it is a rip off because my grandmother had insurance with a certain company for years. She always paid on time, sometimes for months at a time. She was in an accident that was not even her fault and the insurance company totaled her car and booted her from the insurance. She is not able to drive now, but I still think that sucks.
I realize that I have to have insurance. I have been in a wreck before and it helped but that is one time out of how many payments with no incentive for not having a wreck or being at fault. Even if I didn’t have insurance, I’m sure the escalade will because they are being ripped off too.

I need to find out how much someone thinks the insurance company will pay me for my truck???

On the kelley blue book site it says that my truck is worth $7,710 suggested retail value, $5,650 private party value, and $4,620 for trade in value. How much will my insurance company pay me since it is totalled?? It caught fire and is a total loss.

Who thinks eligibility for car insurance/rates should be based solely on your driving record?

I read a story that says that insurance companies are trying to base their rates for car insurance on your credit rating, age, and gender etc. Is that right/do you agree or disagree with the practice,
what do you think the right way is to determine insurance rates etc?
