I had car insurance with my parents for a while and I want to get my own. Im not sure what to look for and what companies are the best.

Go with one of the larger companies. Rates are regulated by the insurance department. Quotes for premiums may be low because they are quoting less coverage which is not a good thing. Make sure your limits are adequate. Minimum limits are set by the ins dept and not the carriers. Here in PA minimal liability limits for property damage are 5K. So if you cause more than $5K in damage for another car then you will not have enough and the other persons insurance company will come to you for the difference. So discuss this w/ a knowledgeable agent and you’ll be glad you did!
