go to
http://www.unitycars.com/
ask for michael or joseph- and use a credit card that will cover any insurance you would want to buy- we have never used anything but the amex, visa and have never had a problem-
break in's? don't leave anything in the seats in view of the passers by- and clear the trunk- you would do the same if you were at home - right??? But please please see Michael or Joseph--- they are the BEST

Usually your USA auto policy will cover you for rental cars to the same extend as your own car, however, coverage is usually limited to domestic rentals not for international rentals. Best bet is to call your auto insurance agent and find out for sure. If it's not covered under your own policy than check to see if it's covered by the credit card you'll use to pay for the rental. Many credit cards will provide "rental car collision waiver" coverage. If it's not covered under your credit card than check the travel insurance that you've purchased (if you have); a couple of travel insurance companies automatically include rental car coverage in their travel insurance plans. If you still haven't found coverage you might want to call the rental car agency and see what they have to offer.

I'm not sure if you need it in st Maarten, but if you have credit cards check with them as they sometimes cover it. and as i have been to many Caribbean islands i know they drive a lot different than us, i was there last year, and St. Maarten did not seem to be that bad as far as people driving. if i was you i would just use there taxis unless you differently need a car, the taxis were not that much and its better for them to reck there car rather then the one your renting. that island is not that big this is why i say this, we found people to take us around the island for $20 for both us. it depends how much you will be traveling, but from my time on the island i don't think you need one. any way have a great time.
