Yes; they’ll be able to find out; all they have to do is check your MVR which they will do. Might better get a copy of it and take it with you so they know whats on your record. If you want a cheaper rate; take a defensive driving course.

When you apply for insurance, they do bring up your file in the first place. They will be able to see all the accidents you have been in. If it wasn’t your fault, I’m sure that your insurance would not be higher. You can also go online and see what your insurance rate would be with different companies. I recommend Progressive. When I switched, it cost me 150 dollars less than my previous policy, even with an accident (my fault) on my record.

most companies only care about at-fault anyway. they can pull a police report, but why? the person who was at fault will be charged a higher rate. Only if you have multiples of the same circumstance will they even care. YOU never had an AT-FAULT accident, and that’s what they want to know.

You have to disclose all accidents, at fault or not, on your application. Your insurance company can find out, either by pulling your driving record or by pulling a CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report.

If your insurance company finds out that you omitted information on your application, they can raise your rate or cancel your insurance outright. In extreme cases, they can charge you with insurance fraud.

Here is the kicker, when you get an auto quote the insurance company assumes that you are telling the truth. So, if you call Progressive and say, I have a completely clean driving record. They will believe you . Most insurance companies don’t do a full pull on your driving record unless you bind a policy. So what happens is that you call and say your driving record is perfect they say “Great, your policy will be 300.00″. You say “Terrific, sign me up!” and pay your 300.00 for your new policy. A week later you get a bill in the mail that says, ummm, we found some stuff out and now your policy will cost 1300.00 please send us 1000.00 immediately or we will cancel your policy.
It cost the insurance company money to get your drivers record. They wont pay that money until they are sure they are going to get a return on their investment. So, it is always better to be truthful when you are getting your quote. They will find out anyway and if you have 10 not at fault accidents it may raise your rates a bit, but it will either way. BTW, insurance companies don’t’ just pull your DMV records, they share information with each other, so every time you have made any claim with company X, company Y can find out about it.

Regardless if you tell them or not they will find out when they run your MVR “Motor Vehicle Report”. If they were all not at fault it should affect your insurance quote!! But it depends on the insurance company too…try answer financial they shop around to get you the best quote and premium etc..I’ve used them many times and they hav never done me wrong!!!

Yes, they can and will look up your record, and see all accidents regardless of fault.

So you read carefully what they are asking. If it says “List the number of accidents where you were at fault” you don’t mention the others. If it say “List all accidents over the past 3 years” you do.

Only if you like an accurate quote.
The agent who is rating your policy should enter a “Non chargeable accident”.
Or, if you are planning to buy the policy,he will be checking your DMV
record and let you know what the exact rate will be.
If you like, and if you live in California, go to my website at http://www.ustuninan.com, enter your zip quote on the Drive Insurance link,
    and click.
If you need help or have any questions, I will be helping you personally.
